About Michael
Before teaching AI, Michael spent more than a decade in financial services — not as a technologist, but in roles that required making complex information clear and usable for the people who needed it. Regulators, clients, developers, senior decision-makers. Explaining complicated things so people can actually act on them is the foundation of how he teaches.
The approach here is practical and honest. AI is genuinely useful, it raises real questions worth thinking about, and most of what passes for AI education is either too hyped or too technical to be helpful. This is meant to be something better: clear instruction, real examples, and a pace that respects your time and intelligence.
He also spent three years backpacking around the world — not directly related to AI, but not entirely unrelated to how he thinks about learning.
FAQ
What if I’ve never used AI before?
That’s common. Some people have never tried it. Others have used it a little but never really learned how to use it well. Either way, the class starts clearly and moves step by step.
I’ve tried AI and found it confusing — is this different?
You’re not alone — and it’s not you. Many people try AI once or twice, get a vague answer, and assume that’s all it can do. In class, we walk through how to use it more effectively so it becomes clearer, more useful, and less frustrating.
What kinds of things can AI help with?
More than most people first assume. Writing a clear email, comparing products before buying, planning a trip, making sense of confusing information, spotting suspicious messages. Part of the class is learning where AI is genuinely useful — and where a better question gets a much better answer.
What will I be able to do after one class?
You should leave with a clearer sense of how to use AI well, a few practical examples you can repeat on your own, and more confidence using it day to day. The goal isn't just to try AI once — it's to start using it in ways that are genuinely useful.
Is this safe and private?
We’ll talk through what makes sense to share with AI, what deserves more caution, and how to adjust your settings. There’s no single rule for everyone, but you’ll leave with a clearer sense of what feels right for you.
Do I need a paid AI account? Which app should I use?
No — the free versions work well for getting started. I teach with ChatGPT, but Claude and Google Gemini are also good. In class, we can talk through when a paid plan makes sense and which app fits you best. Download links are on the Get Started page.
